About Comic Noize

Comic Noize is a blog dedicated to comics culture, covering the books, art, and collectibles that surround the medium.

What we do

A blog about comics culture

Comic Noize is a blog dedicated to comics culture. We write about Marvel Comics, DC Comics, Image Comics, and Timely Comics, with an emphasis on the material culture of the medium rather than release-day summaries.

Recurring subjects include original artwork and the artists behind it — Rob Liefeld, Art Adams, Brian Bolland, John Byrne, Dave Sim, Rick Veitch, Peter David, Larry Stroman, Mike Hoffman, Casey Antony, Joe Shuster, and Allan Linder — along with character history for the likes of Namor, Black Widow, Wolverine, Spider-Man, and Batman.

We also track auctions and collector items, from vintage sticker packs priced like artifacts to a single signed Swamp Thing page turning up in a surprisingly low-priced auction. Items readers send our way get picked up as features.

How we work

Everything is written in a casual, conversational voice. When a piece of art is a bargain, we say so; when a cover is a career misstep that still looks good, we say that too.

Comic Noize is a blog about comics culture that looks past release-day chatter to the physical objects that give the medium its texture: original artwork, illustrated covers, trade paperbacks, graphic novels, and the collectibles that accumulate around a bookshelf. Coverage spans publishers such as Marvel Comics, DC Comics, Image Comics, and Timely Comics, with recurring attention to artists whose careers included major missteps, strange eras, and memorable character work. The writing is conversational and enthusiast-driven, treating artists, characters, issues, and artwork as subjects worth studying closely rather than summarizing news, so that readers who followed a series for years can find something to agree or argue with on any given page.

A warm, softly lit flat-lay of comic book pages and print ephemera spread across a muted beige surface, with a calm and nostalgic mood
Comics culture covers a lot of ground: original art, old newsstand oddities, and the objects that pile up around a lifetime of reading.
